The academy concentrated on perfecting the basics and teaching advanced skills such as 3D lifting and jinking and spatial awareness for games.
“The goalies had special attention, with Benalla’s Annie loving the tips and chance to learn from other goalies of the same age,” a club spokesperson said.
The five sessions included two game days in Bendigo, with Hockey 5’s on offer for under-12s Abby, Emma, Finn, and Zander, full field mini games for under-14s Alida, Angus, Jack, Noah, and Talon and under-18s Amber, Erin, and Olly.
The players joined with kids from the whole zone, stretching right across to Mildura, and learnt from some of the best coaches that the four participating associations had to offer.
This season’s junior and senior competitions begin this Saturday, April 20, with all players keen to hit the turf.
New players for all age groups are always welcome. Head along to Churchill Reserve for training on a Thursday evening and try your hand.
