The Benalla Breakers U12 Girls team finished as runners-up at the Junior Country Championships in Bendigo recently.
The Benalla Breakers under-12 Boys and Girls teams showcased their talent and determination at the Junior Country Championships, held recently in Bendigo from April 17 to 19.

The under-12 Boys, led by coach Kate Symes, assistant coach Daniel Symes and team manager Cam Symes, opened their campaign in impressive fashion with a 45-37 win over Lakes Entrance. The Breakers controlled the game with strong defence and disciplined ball movement to secure the eight-point victory.
Facing a quick turnaround, the boys took on Southern Peninsula Sharks, going down 37-47 in a hard-fought contest. They continued to show resilience in their third pool match against Shepparton Gators, competing strongly before falling 36-46.
Finishing pool play with one win, the Breakers advanced to the Division 4 quarter finals, where they produced one of their best performances of the tournament, defeating Morwell Magic 46-28.
The win propelled them into the semi-final against Swan Hill Flyers. In a tough and physical contest, the Breakers battled all the way but were defeated 31-39, bringing their championship run to an end.

The Under 12 Girls, coached by Milly Evans alongside assistant coach Mim McKenzie and team manager Emma Quarrell, enjoyed an outstanding tournament, progressing all the way to the grand final.
The girls opened with a strong 19-13 win over Bendigo Braves 2, before narrowly going down to Wallan Panthers 24-26. They responded in style in their third pool game, defeating Mansfield Eagles 30-11.
Meeting Wallan again in the qualifying final, the Breakers pushed hard but fell just short, 21-23. Showing great resilience, the girls bounced back in the preliminary final with a dominant 30-12 win over Wangaratta Warriors to secure a place in the grand final.
In the decider, Benalla once again faced Wallan Panthers, going down 22-27 in a hard-fought contest to finish as runners-up in a fantastic achievement.
Across the weekend, both teams demonstrated excellent teamwork, determination and sportsmanship, representing the Benalla Breakers with pride.
