Echuca’s teams are in fine form at the moment and both made it three straight wins to start their respective seasons against Rochester, the Murray Bombers beating the Tigers 12.14 (86) to 8.8 (56) in senior football and 64-39 in A-grade netball.
In the Murray Football Netball League, Tongala and Echuca United faced off in two local clashes, the Eagles narrowly winning football 10.4 (64) to 8.13 (61), but the Blues claiming a dominant 66-36 victory in the netball.
Elsewhere, Lockington Bamawm United had a tough day out against White Hills in the Heathcote District Football Netball League, the Cats suffering an agonising 13.12 (90) to 12.15 (87) loss in football, while the netball side went down 68-41.
Leitchville-Gunbower’s Saturday was quite the opposite, the Bombers’ football team getting off the mark with a 9.13 (67) to 8.8 (56) win over Heathcote, while A-grade netball followed suit in a 46-40 victory.
Finally to the Picola District Football Netball League, where Picola United has made a flying start, the football side defeating Rennie 16.16 (112) to 9.2 (56) and the netball team triumphing 38-28.
Meanwhile, it was another challenging senior football fixture for Mathoura, which lost 23.25 (163) to 0.2 (2) to Berrigan, though the Timbercutters’ netballers were far more competitive in a 36-30 defeat.
