Facing the runner-up from the 2025 season, the Saints were on the back foot from the first centre pass of the contest, eventually falling to a 15-72 defeat against an uncompromising opponent.

Euroa dominated proceedings from the jump, establishing a 12-goal buffer following a 13-1 run to start the contest, a lead that became 16 goals by quarter time as the Saints struggled to generate offensive looks.
The second term saw the Saints make a brighter start, scoring three of the first four goals as they looked to work their way into the game; however, the ruthless Magpies put the foot down from there, putting through the next 10 scores to open a 31-7 lead approaching the main break.
The final six goals of the half also went the way of the visitors, as they raced to a 37-9 advantage at the main interval, and only continued to extend it from there.

A 3-15 third term saw Benalla’s deficit creep out to 40 goals by the final change, down 12-52, while a brutal final 15 minutes meant Euroa ran out winners by an eventual 57 goals, outscoring the home side 20-3 in the last term.
The loss condemns the Saints to bottom spot on the ladder through three rounds, 0.09 per cent below the winless Kyabram, although with the chance to make amends when they face 10th-placed Mansfield this Saturday night at Mansfield under lights.
It was a similar story in B grade, where the Saints went down 16-68, although the B Reserve side showed plenty of resolve in a 35-49 defeat.
In the juniors, the under-17 side went down narrowly 51 to 58 in a brilliant outing, while the under-15s were beaten 23-52.
