One of the league’s best put on a clinic against Mathoura at the weekend, Strathmerton sweeping aside the Timbercutters in Picola District Football League.

At Strathmerton Recreation Reserve, the Bulldogs consistently found their way into attacking 50, logging 52 scoring shots in the 30.22 (202) to 2.1 (13) victory.

Mathoura’s goals came in the first half, one in each of the first two quarters, with Clinton Atkinson and Kai Shiels providing the lone sparks of joy for the well-beaten Timbercutters.

After scoring 86 points in the half, Strathmerton really turned it on after the break, adding a further 116 and keeping Mathoura without score.

Still winless at 0-10 Mathoura’s best chances of scoring a win this year will come in the next month.

The Timbercutters next face Katunga, which scored its first victory at the weekend, and has upcoming games against fellow winless sides Rennie and Blighty within the next four.

The clash with Katunga will be at home at Mathoura Recreation Reserve this Saturday.
