Mathoura outmuscled by Katandra

Both sides kicked off the game with two goals and it was only the Kats’ five minor scores that separated the sides at quarter-time.

However, as has often been the case for Mathoura this year, the Cutters couldn’t maintain their level for an extended period and Katandra started to pull away in the second.

Mathoura was lucky to only trail by 18 at the main break, as the Kats sprayed a wayward 4.13 (37) at goal, while the Cutters posted 3.1 (19).

Katandra recalibrated over the break and scored with accuracy in the third, fully breaking the game open with 10 unanswered majors, and the Kats would close out what became a big win with another seven in the fourth.

The final score read Katandra 21.23 (149) to Mathoura 3.2 (20).

Zac Vesty kicked two goals for the Cutters, while Jordan Jones provided the third.

Mathoura remains in 14th place among four winless sides who are remarkably yet to meet through the first nine rounds.

The Cutters visit another top four side this weekend, on the road at Strathmerton.
