The Mavs have teamed up with Cobram Estate in a bid to help grassroots clubs across Victoria following the challenges of the past five years including floods, bushfires and COVID-19.
As part of the initiative Victorian netball clubs and associations were provided the opportunity to access 20 $2,500 grants, in assisting with fundraising, volunteer recruitment and player retention.
In addition, recipient clubs were granted $5,000 worth of ticketing to Melbourne Mavericks home games to reward the dedication of players, families and volunteers to grassroots sport.
As part of the scheme Picola District Football Netball League club Waaia was among those chosen to receive a grant.
“A huge thank you to the Melbourne Mavericks for their generous donation to our netball club,” the club wrote in an expression of gratitude on social media.
“Your support will help provide opportunities for our players and contribute to the continued growth of netball at our club.
