An inspired display by Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has helped Southern Brave edge out Birmingham Phoenix by a 12-run margin in The Hundred.

Stoinis, batting at No.4, Â top scored for Brave with 34 off 26 balls during their total of 8-128 at Southampton's Ageas Bowl.
It looked below par and England's Jamie Smith was one of four Brave batters to register a single-figure score, but Rehan Ahmed's excellent figures of 3-35 failed to inspire Phoenix to victory on the south coast.
Phoenix opener Will Smeed made a fine start with 35 and Ahmed backed him up with 16, but the visitors collapsed to 6-89.
Stoinis's 2-16 and scalps for Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid slowed down Phoenix before Luke Wood provided an explosive finish with two wickets at the death to restrict the away franchise to 9-116.
