Both have volunteered their time for many years and Alan was nominated for Goorambat Achiever of the Year in 2020.
Last week community members got together to honour the couple, presenting them a certificate and thanking them for their hard work in promoting the town and supporting its many community events and activities.
A community spokesperson said despite having been ready for nearly six months, the award was unable to be presented because of COVID-19 restrictions.
“For much of the past two years, 90-year-old Alan has been selling souvenirs depicting Goorambat’s three painted silos from underneath a small shelter by the side of the road,” the spokesperson said.
Wall to Wall postponed until 2022
“He has raised many thousands of dollars for the community group, to help them afford to have more artworks painted.
“Meanwhile, his wife Kath has been supporting Alan all the way, driving him out to the silos with all the souvenirs each day, as well as being an integral part of all the township events, including catering.
“Both have volunteered for everything they do and are now engaged in projects including the new solar farm, the proposed playground and supporting the Diggers Wife Café.
“Both are much-loved members of the local community.”
