Members meet at the Benalla Girl Guides hall between 5pm and 7pm for activity-filled evenings.
“Our activities are girl-driven and can see us doing anything from lighting fires, doing rubbish pickups for Cleanup Australia Day, cooking, camping to canoeing and much, much, more,” Benalla Girl Guides leader Di McKenna said.
“On the last night of term two we had a celebration for three girls who have worked hard on their leadership, community and service skills to earn two of the Peak Achievement Awards for Guiding.”
Georgia earned her Junior BP for working through her challenges at Guides, which is Peak Achievement for her age group under 10.
Rebecca and Emily worked through a similar program with more challenges appropriate for the 10+ age group.
“These involve working as a team, working independently and developing leadership skills,” Ms McKenna said.
“Emily and Rebecca have attended two jamborees and have enjoyed many other activities during their Guiding life.
“It was a wonderful way to end our term with celebrations for the girls.
“Term three will see us prepare for camping, canoeing and maybe some Stem/Steam activities.
“And who knows what else will be in our program, but it will be lots of fun for sure.”
