The temporary closure will allow council’s contractor, Riverina Floor Sanding, to complete upgrades to courts one, two and three, as well as the entrance foyer.
The works include replacing damaged floorboards, drum sanding, line marking and applying a new protective coating.
These improvements will help keep the centre safe, well maintained and ready for continued community use.
User groups have already been advised of the closure and the timing of the works.
Benalla Mayor Bernie Hearn said the upgrades would support future use of this important community facility and reflected council’s continued commitment.
“The Benalla Indoor Recreation Centre is a busy and much-loved space for local sport and community activities,” Cr Hearn said.
“These works will help protect the floors, improve safety and make sure the centre stays in good shape for everyone who uses it.”
The centre is expected to reopen at 8am on June 22, subject to works being completed as planned.
This project is funded by Victorian Government National Disaster Support funding, Benalla Rural City Council and the Benalla Indoor Recreation Centre Committee of Management.
