The film explores themes of identity, loyalty and the human cost of discrimination.
The event aims to support inclusion and belonging for LGBTIQ+ community members, their families and friends.
Each free ticket includes a small popcorn and a small drink, making it an easy and affordable night out for the community.
Benalla Mayor Bernie Hearn said the event was an important opportunity for the community to come together and show support for inclusion.
“Pride month is a time for us to listen, learn and stand with our LGBTIQ+ community,” Cr Hearn said.
“This free screening creates a welcoming space for people to connect, enjoy a film and show that Benalla is a place where everyone belongs.
“Council encourages residents to come along, enjoy the film and take part in this pride month event.
“It is a chance to show support for inclusion in our community and to recognise the value of creating spaces where everyone feels respected and welcome.”
The free screening of Plainclothes takes place at Benalla Cinema, 14 Mair St from 7pm on Monday, June 29.
Tickets are free, but booking is required via benallacinema.com.au/
