Those interested in forming a committee or bringing memorabilia and ideas are welcome to attend the meeting next month.
Lancaster Primary School principal Trish Perry hoped the milestone would be a community event.
“We want to have a public meeting to invite anyone who might be interested in joining a committee to help celebrate Lancaster Primary School's 150th year,” she said.
“The actual date of the 150th is November 30but unfortunately that is voting weekend in the state election, so we have changed the celebration to November 7.”
The school will open to the public on Saturday, November 7, with a formal ceremony planned.
“I thought we might get an elder in to do an opening, maybe do some sort of official opening with a politician, that sort of thing, maybe a cake cutting,” Ms Perry said.
“Maybe a display, with the school open.”
Ms Perry said she was keen to gather photos and stories from former students.
“We have had a lady from Queensland call in, who used to live in Kyabram and she brought in some old photos of the school,” she said.
“If we have a meeting and we see if anyone in the area is interested in helping out to get the celebrations happening, that'd be great.
“If they're not, then I'll just go ahead and do it as a school thing, but I'd like it to be a community.”
The meeting is on Wednesday, August 12, at 6pm at Hurley's, 217-219 Allan St, Kyabram.
