The live broadcast will bring a burst of energy to the precinct, shining a spotlight on the many family‑friendly activities happening across Benalla during the school break.
To coincide with the broadcast, Benalla Cinema will host a colourful Minions & Monsters Party inspired by the new Universal Pictures film Minions & Monsters.
Families can enjoy arts and craft activities, giveaways, prizes for best dressed, and the chance to stay on for a screening of the film.
Benalla Mayor Bernie Hearn said the event is a great way to kick off the holidays and bring the community together.
“We’re thrilled to welcome EdgeFM for a live broadcast right in the heart of Benalla,” Cr Hearn said.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase the fun, creative and family‑focused activities happening across our region.
“The Minions and Monsters Party will be a real highlight for local families.
“It’s wonderful to see our cinema buzzing with excitement and offering something special for children and parents alike.”
Minions & Monsters tells the rambunctious, ridiculous and totally true story of how the Minions conquered Hollywood, became movie stars, lost everything, unleashed monsters onto the world and then banded together to try and save the planet from the mayhem they had just created.
Cr Hearn said the celebration is just the beginning of a packed winter program.
“Our community has so much to look forward to these school holidays,” Cr Hearn said.
“The Benalla Library is offering a wide range of activities, the Pop‑Up Benalla Art Gallery has creative workshops for all ages, and council is proud to support NAIDOC Week with a free community celebration on Tuesday, July 9.
“These events reflect our commitment to providing engaging, accessible and family‑friendly experiences for everyone in Benalla Rural City.”
