A $90,000 investment for Bearii will see two 27,000-litre, steel-lined water tanks boost the local CFA’s firefighting capacity and improve irrigation at its recreation reserve.
The new tanks replace the current single existing tank and have been placed on a concrete slab to protect them from flooding to meet both CFA and council requirements.
The project has been funded by Moira Shire Council.
Council chair administrator Graeme Emonson said the new tanks meant an improvement in supply reliability for the CFA and council.
“The CFA helped size the tanks based on truck capacity and turnaround time in the event of remote grassfires in the district,” Dr Emonson said.
“The tanks will also improve council’s efficiency when watering the adjacent Bearii Recreation Reserve.”
Built by Coulter’s Plumbing of Yarrawonga, the new tanks were a joint project between the CFA and Moira Shire Council.
