The proposed changes are designed to strengthen manufacturing capability, improve productivity and operational efficiency, and support innovation.
The proposal includes changes to a number of roles, alongside the creation of new opportunities to better support future growth and competitiveness.
While about 40 roles are expected to be impacted across maintenance and frontline leadership at the site, which could involve redeployment, the proposal also includes the creation of new positions with expanded responsibilities and career development opportunities.
As part of SPC’s broader manufacturing strategy, additional production is expected to transition to Shepparton in the coming months following the relocation of selected beverage manufacturing lines from the Mill Park site in Melbourne, expected to occur by the end of October.
The new line could create up to 21 manufacturing jobs in Shepparton.
Managing director Robert Iervasi said consultation with employees and their representatives was currently under way and no final decisions had been made.
“The company is committed to ensuring all team members are treated fairly, respectfully and transparently throughout the consultation process,” he said.
Mr Iervasi said SPC Global remained firmly committed to Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley.
“The Shepparton site remains central to the company’s future as the heart of its manufacturing operations and to supporting the long-term sustainability of both the business and the local community,” he said.
“Shepparton has been at the heart of SPC for more than a century and will continue to play a critical role in our future.
“These proposed changes are about ensuring we have the right structure, capability and capacity to better support growth and competitiveness as we continue to grow domestically and internationally.”
