The project has been steered by the Tocumwal Community Development Committee which is excited to announce the official lighting up of the tree this Friday, July 17. Community members are encouraged to arrive at 5.30pm for a 6pm lighting.
The TCDC has funded this project with the appreciation of further financial donations from Tocumwal Lions Club, Tocumwal Rotary, Tocumwal Foreshore Committee, Tocumwal IGA and Club Tocumwal.
You may have noticed the tree has had a recent haircut for maintenance from Border Tree Care, and electrical works undertaken by Cobram Electrical and Data in preparation for a landmark that our locals, surrounding communities, visitors and those traveling through can enjoy for many years to come.
The tree can be illuminated in almost any colour, enabling recognition of memorial type days such as the ‘ribbon days’ (pink, blue, yellow), Red Nose Day, or multi- coloured for Christmas and other festive occasions.
Everyone is welcome to join the TCDC and be a part of this history making event.
Please follow the TCDC’s Facebook event for any potential changes to the event time.

Women of the Murray will host a themed Brave, Not Perfect event at Tocumwal Brewing Co, inviting women to challenge the expectations of perfection and explore a broader understanding of femininity.
The event will begin with doors opening at 6pm ahead of a 6.30pm start and will feature storytelling, guided workshop activities and group discussion.
Organisers say women are often placed into narrow expectations, not only about appearance but also about how they should behave, care for others and present themselves to the world.
The evening will encourage participants to reflect on the pressures they have inherited and consider the freedom that comes from recognising femininity is not defined by a single ideal.
The workshop will explore how women can feel compelled to embody not only external beauty standards but also an expectation to be endlessly compassionate, patient, selfless and emotionally available.
Instead, the event celebrates the many ways women express themselves, recognising they can be fierce and gentle, bold and soft, strong and vulnerable, all at the same time.
Organisers say the event is designed to provide a welcoming space where women can share stories, connect with others and embrace their authentic selves without the pressure to appear polished or perfect.
Finger food and supper will be provided, with drinks available to purchase at bar prices.
Tickets are $35 for Women of the Murray members and $45 for non-members. Bookings can be made online via https://events.humanitix.com/brave-not-perfect-tocumwal
