In eight years with Benalla Swimming Club, Mailer has gone from local swimmer to someone we could soon be seeing on the national stage.
In just the past 12 months alone, she has qualified for seven events at the Victorian State Championships and Victorian Open Short Course Championships.

And that led to Mailer being selected as one of three 15-year-old competitors to be selected on the 2019 Victorian Country team.
But it was at the Victorian Country Championships in January where she performed best, winning silver in the 14-15 girls 200m individual medley and bronze in the 100m butterfly.
Both were performances she was extremely proud of.
“It’s always really exciting when you do win medals,” she said.
“When I was younger, I got involved because my sister was, and I started out for just a bit of fun.
“But once I had a few goals I wanted to achieve it certainly made me want to compete a lot more.
“And I guess I’ve been very fortunate to do quite well.”

Swimming isn’t the only sport where Mailer has been making waves either, with the teenager proving her gymnastics ability at the top level.
At the 2019 Victorian Gymnastics Championships, Mailer finished first in beam (15-year-old, division 2, level 7) and sixth overall.
Meanwhile at the Victorian state trials, she finished first overall after winning the beam competition and finishing second in uneven bars.
