Brandon, who is possibly better known for his plastering ability, had to play his way through a huge field to reach the final.
He got over the line against Wayne Rogers, who also produced a strong performance to contest the playoff frame.
Brandon spared no expense in chasing his moment of glory, having purchased a new cue specifically for the competition.
Congratulations go to Brandon, with hopes of many more sterling performances and that his relationship with his new cue remains stronger than those many golfers have with their putters.
Wayne also played very well to make the final in such a strong field.
Heie Hansen returned to the winners’ circle with victory in the club’s Club Challenge number five event, contested on Monday, July 7.
Heie recently invested in a pair of snooker-specific glasses, as did club president Darren Thompson, and the results of their improved vision are clear for all to see.
Craig Jordan performed well to finish second behind Heie and collected a ClubMulwala voucher for his effort.
Monday, July 13, saw round five of the season-long Diggers’ Tribute event, where Darren Edwards claimed victory over Craig Jordan, who is returning to his best form after recovering from injury.
Both gentlemen played well, and the points they gained will contribute nicely to their year-end tallies.
Social nights on Wednesday evenings continue to be well supported, with ClubMulwala vouchers up for grabs for the winners and runners-up.
Ashley Nicholls prevailed over Chris Page on July 1, while “Mr Wednesday Night”, also known as Michael Barclay, was victorious over Darren Edwards on July 8, and Kevin Young got the choccies against Darren Thompson on July 15.
Kevin is having a prosperous month, having also claimed the monthly “Pot the Black” knockout for July with what he described as a “perfect shot”, although other members have labelled it quite differently.
Award winners: Captain’s Cup — Brandon Lucas; Club Challenge number five — Heie Hansen; Diggers’ Tribute round five — Darren Edwards; July 1 social night — Ashley Nicholls; July 8 social night — Michael Barclay; July 15 social night — Kevin Young; July “Pot the Black” knockout — Kevin Young.
