A Grade had a tough game against Tarrawingee at the weekend, going down 28-45. With a number of players unavailable through injury, the girls were forced to make several changes across the court.
Unfortunately, we struggled to settle into the game and didn’t produce the standard of netball we know we are capable of.
Despite the disappointing result, it was a special day for Charli Button who celebrated her 100th game for the club. Charli had another determined performance, while Kylie Relf was our standout player, with a consistent four-quarter effort. Sarah Blackburn also had a strong game through the mid court.

B Grade
The Bats took on Tarrawingee on Saturday in slippery, cold conditions. This was an important game for the Bats to win to help secure their spot in the top five for the run into finals.
They took on a very young, strong Tarrawingee B grade team who fought hard to the final siren.
Our defensive pressure across the court was the best it’s been all season with Georgia Thomson, Lacey Carter and Kelsey Moss creating many turnovers on the shooting ring and assisted down the court by Tiffany Osborne in wing defence. Tiffany’s ability to create space and drive hard down the midcourt has been a great asset to the team this season.
A slippery ball made our attackers work hard to secure possession in the attacking end, Ally Ellis, Poppy Broomhall and Chelsea Bamford rotating through the goal ring and finding their flow late in the second half.
Centre court players Amelia gall and Mya Bye had their work cut out for them with a very quick Tarra centre keeping them running for the full four quarters, but the Bats came away with a solid 15-goal win.

B Reserve
Goorambat’s B Reserve side was defeated by a strong Tarrawingee side on Saturday, going down 26-51.
Despite the result, the Bats continued to battle hard throughout the game, showing plenty of determination and effort against quality opposition.
Grace Handley earned best on court honours with an outstanding all-round performance, while Alyssa Priest worked tirelessly in the ring and Abby Hammond was once again reliable in midcourt and goals, rounding out Goorambat’s best players.
The team will take plenty of positives from the match as they continue to work hard and build towards the end of the season.

Under 17s
The under-17s came into the game full of confidence and carried that energy throughout all four quarters. While the result didn’t fall our way, the girls showed great determination and defensive pressure, making Tarrawingee work hard for every goal they scored. Their effort and teamwork were evident from start to finish.
Pippa Martin was outstanding across the court, making a huge impact both in attack and defence. Her relentless work rate and ability to influence the game earned her best on court.
Yolanda Bourke displayed confidence and composure in the goal ring, using her experience to create strong scoring opportunities and convert under pressure. Her performance saw her awarded second best.
Issie De Fazio was given the important task of shutting down Tarrawingee’s key shooter. She executed her role brilliantly, disrupting their attacking flow and slowing their scoring opportunities to earn third best.
A great team effort with plenty of positives to take into next week’s game.

Under 15s
Goorambat’s under-15s put together a fantastic team performance this week, with the game full of positivity, enthusiasm and teamwork.
In goal keeper, Evie Ellis was outstanding, using smart footwork to shut down Tarrawingee’s shooting circle and making the shooters work for every goal. Emma Hall delivered beautiful passes into the shooting circle and took some great intercepts through the midcourt.
Estelle Doig also had another strong game in defence, using smart front cuts and patience to help move the ball down the court.
Although the Bats went down 19-39 to Tarrawingee, the scoreboard certainly didn’t reflect the effort shown by the girls.

Seniors
Goorambat’s seniors took on Tarrawingee at the weekend, and right from the first bounce we were in for a close game.
Our Bats started well, and although it was Tarra that hit the scoreboard first, the Bats soon replied and looked to be in control with Desi O’Kane in superb form with many clearances giving his Bats every chance of impacting on the scoreboard.
Both Jordan Wolff and Dylan Beavis were in good touch, working well together up forward, and it wasn’t long until Wolff started impacting the scoreboard with back to back goals.
In the second quarter it was much the same, the Bats still setting the pace but it was still a tight contest, and at half time the Bats still held onto a small lead.
In the third term though, Tarra came out and flipped the game with multiple majors and the Bats didn’t have the answers, Tarra owning the second half and running away with the game.

Reserves
Goorambat 0.0 (0) def by Tarrawingee 20.13 (133)
At the weekend we battled it out with Tarrawingee on their home turf and in the reserves it was very much one sided on the scoreboard, but our undermanned fellas did what they could and fought hard all day.
Shaun (King) Lemmer was solid all day down back, as was Jack Trevena on the ball, giving his all and was in the action all day, but with the ball in our back line for most of the afternoon it was our two veterans in Brenton Doig and Garry Preist that stood tall in defence, doing their team proud.
