Bushrangers step up to see off Whittlesea

The 10-point victory was gallant in all respects, as Hayden Annett’s troops refused to crack in the game’s second half to hold on top a 72-62 result on the road.

It was hell for leather in the first half, however.

Outscoring the Pacers by two-points in the opening quarter, the host returned the favour to draw proceedings level by the half.

The third stanza was where the match was ultimately decided as the Bushrangers ran out to an eight-point buffer, and backed it up with 20 in the last to seal a memorable win.

Annett’s three-pronged shooting attack worked in harmony, with Jordan Hockley, Darcy Locke and Liam Wright combing for a whopping 46 points.

Over at Mullum Mullum Stadium, a second quarter shut out cost the Lady Bushrangers its second win of the season.

Roaring ahead in the first, a meagre seven-point effort in the following period left too much room to be made up.

And although Tony Long's side hit back in a major way as time ticked on, Blackburn hung on to seal a 69-65 win and leave the Lady Bushrangers languishing near the bottom of the ladder.
