A happy crowd of film lovers, filmmakers, producers, actors and sponsors were wowed by the quality and diversity of the nine films shortlisted by the esteemed judges, both with Hollywood experience.
Krista Vendy has been a judge for BSFF since 2019. Her credits include Neighbours, Incredible Hulk, Fat Pizza and Mental.
Bruce Hunt-Hughes joined BSFF in 2024. His credits include A Streetcar Named Desire on the West End stage in London. He has also graced the small and big screen in Halifax F.P, Howzat - The Kerry Packer War, Portable Door on Netflix, and many more.
Next month there will be an encore screening of the 2024 festival’s short films.
Along with the nine films on offer at the Violet Town Community Hall on Sunday, September 14, BSSF will also screen Gitar, by Jack Rintoul, starring Bruce Hunt-Hughes.
BSSF director Anna Smith said the films ranged from what happened to those odd socks we have to 30 years of storm chasing photography taken around the coastline of Victoria.
“It was rewarding to have many filmmakers, previous entrants and winners in attendance, highlighting the ongoing success of the Benalla Short Film Festival and the importance of film making,” Ms Smith said.
