Emergency services on the scene of a fire in a Cobram shop on Thursday, July 9.

Cobram Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a fire at a Cobram shop which housed ammunition which was exploding as CFA worked to get it under control.

Emergency services were called to the fire at a business at the intersection of Broadway and Gemmell Sts about 5.40pm on Thursday, July 9.

People were asked to avoid the area until the fire was extinguished due to the ammunition stored on the premises.

Police have confirmed that there were no injuries.

Police asked the public to avoid the corner of Broadway and Gemmell Sts while CFA worked to extinguish a fire at a local business.

Investigations are ongoing into the cause of the fire.
