The initiative also encourages the community to take action to improve health outcomes for men and boys.
In support of this, Moira Shire Council, with NCN Health and Yarrawonga Health, will be hosting a series of free community breakfast events across the shire.
Chair administrator Graeme Emonson said the events were a great opportunity for men across the shire to prioritise their health and connect with their community.
“Mateship keeps men healthy, and that’s exactly what these breakfasts are all about,” he said.
“We know that when men feel connected to their community, they are more likely to reach out, open up, and take action on their health.
“I encourage every man in Moira to come along, enjoy a free breakfast, meet some new mates, and take advantage of the health checks and support on offer.”
Attendees will enjoy a free egg and bacon roll and coffee, access on-the-spot health checks and mental health support and connect with others in their community.
Each breakfast will be supported by Wellways Mental Health and Wellbeing, ensuring mental health support is available right across the shire.
NCN Health will attend in Nathalia, Numurkah and Cobram, with Primary Care Connect’s community paramedic on hand at Nathalia and Numurkah to conduct free health checks.
Event locations:
• Cobram: Federation Park on Thursday, June 18 from 7am to 9am.
• Numurkah: Newman Square on Tuesday, June 23 from 7am to 9am.
• Yarrawonga: Bunnings on Tuesday, June 16 from 7am to 9am.
• Nathalia: Blake Street Plantation on Thursday, June 11 from 7am to 9am.
