Under-12
Benalla Bulldogs hosted the Wangaratta Kangaroos last Saturday.
The Under-12s came up against a strong and tall Kanga’s outfit and after a slow start began to play some better football.
The young Bulldogs played their best football in the third quarter keeping the visiting team to just two points for the quarter.
To their credit the Kangaroos were first to the ball, which is something the Bulldogs need to work on for the remainder of the season.
Bulldogs’ best players were Nate Nicholas, Jackson Fry and Luke Welsh who was solid in the backline.
Under-14
The Bulldogs Under-14s were too strong for the Kangaroos kicking 10 goals in the opening quarter to establish a match-winning lead.
The margin continued to extend for the remainder of the match.
The Bulldogs had multiple goal scorers, Montell McFarlane finishing the game with seven majors.
Under-17
Benalla United’s Under-17 team recorded its fifth win on Saturday, overcoming the Wang Kangaroos by two points in a tight encounter at the Benalla Showgrounds.
Benalla started well in the first quarter, kicking three unanswered goals to gain the early buffer.
The Kangaroos fought back in the second quarter to reduce the margin to six points at half-time.
The second half was hotly contested, with both sides desperate for a win, but as the siren sounded to end the game, it was Benalla coming away with the win.
Flynn Weeks, Sam Cox, Charlie DeWinne and Campbell Drury were all strong contributors for Benalla in a good team effort.
Benalla Giants
Under-14
Benalla Giants Under-14s travelled to Mansfield on Sunday.
The Giants got off to a slow start, struggling to win their share of the contested football.
Trailing by 32-points at three-quarter time, the Giants played their best football for the match in the final quarter to reduce the margin to seven points
Best players were Xavier Wapling, Jayden, Chee, Hamish Willett, Thomas Binion, Josh Cox, James Martin.
