Another tough week for the Goorambat girls coming up against Greta, which is always a tough game.
The girls started well and were creating some turnovers to only be down by five at quarter time.
Being a tough defensive game Olivia Dalton, Ally Ellis, Chelsea Beavis and Georgia Thomson combined and worked hard all day shading accurate shooters.
Olivia Dalton played an outstanding game in defence then moving to centre and combined well with Catherine Dennis and Carli Hogan.
Our shooters in Kylie Relf, Sarah Osborne and Erin Hernan tried hard all game, but it just wasn’t their day.
Not the result the girls were hoping for, but they will re-group as they come up against Milawa next round for what is always a great game of netball.
Awards: Best-on Olivia Dalton (Royal hotel), Ally Ellis (Alyssa Chelsea’s) and Georgia Thomson (Rambling Rose)
B-grade
Goorambat 52 defeated Greta 31
Coming off a loss against Benalla All Blacks the girls were determined to pick back up the momentum they had acquired.
Bats took the lead from the first centre out scoring Greta in the first quarter 15-5.
The shooting combination of Jenna Brunner and Kelsey Moss proved to be accurate as they increased their lead at every quarter break, this was assisted by Chloe Gunn and Chelsea Bamford and their fast and accurate passes into the goal circle.
Fiona Doig and Ella Sheehan used their skills and their height to their advantage never letting Greta score more than 10 in a quarter.
Mya Bye stepped into the team for her first game for the 2021 season and was crucial in her ability to switch from attack to defence through the mid-court.
Teamed with Brittney Harris in WD the defence held their ground, chased loose balls and was consistent for four quarters.
Awards: Best-on Brittney Harris (Goorambat hotel), Mya Bye (Sportspower) and Fiona Doig (Nailed it services)
