This Saturday the Towners host Girgarre in an important clash, a win for the locals will put them into the top six.

Up against seasoned players the “twos” were valiant in defeat despite the 90-point margin.
Ashton Triffett was clearly best afield also the only two goals.
McFarlane, Dean and Dowell were all tireless, but the team still seems to be getting to know one another’s style.
An assignment this week against Kangaroos could be a chance to secure there second win of the season.

Under-15
It was the first game of the season for the Violet Town girls and they started with a bang.
In the first they all worked well together to bring the ball down the court with the shooters aiming beautifully.
At quarter-time Avenel made some positional changes that disrupted the Violet Town game and the Swan fought back and controlled the second quarter.
At half-time it was Violet Town’s turn to make some positional changes and this helped the girls control the Avenel attack and slowed their momentum that had produced in the second.
In the last quarter Avenel continued to put the defensive pressure on the Violet Town team and came up with a number of intercepts to run away with the game.

Under-13
Violet Town started off the first quarter well with strong leading.
Bronti and Chloe were shooting beautifully and working well together.
Ashlea brought the ball down court in “C” position with help from Elliette in “WA”.
Abi and Taylah worked well in defence.
The Violet Town team continued the second quarter strongly, however, Avenel started to come back.
The Violet Town girls kept their heads up and continued to play their best.
At half-time changes were made, trialling a new shooting and defensive combinations.
Avenel pulled ahead in this quarter.
In the final quarter the Violet Town girls went back into positions they were more familiar with and began to claw back Avenel’s lead.
Bronti was strong again in goals, shooting six for the quarter.
Ashlea continued to be strong in “C”.
All girls played well for the first game of the season, and for more than half the team, their first game ever.
Looking forward to seeing all players get better as the season continues.

It was a strong first quarter from both sides.
Violet Town putting on fantastic defensive pressure with Brianna Cotchin coming up with some good intercepts in defence.
In the second quarter Violet Town struggled in the mid court to get the ball down to their shooters.
The defence end was up for the challenge and continued to put the pressure on the Avenel team, but Avenel was too good.
Avenel continued with the defensive pressure in the third quarter making it hard for the Violet Town girls.
VT continued to work hard and made some great shots, but it wasn’t enough to get them back into the game.
Accurate shooting from Avenel made it hard for the Violet Town girls, but they worked hard all game, putting on as much defensive pressure as possible.

This weekend In partnership with the Violet Town RSL, the seniors will be wearing a commemorative jumper.
There will be Anzac Medals handed out to those who best display the Anzac spirit in all matches and a minute's silence observed.
We also have a raffle being run as part of this to win a Nissan X-Trail. Tickets are $5 each with limited numbers remaining.
On Sunday the rooms will be open with the RSL in attendance and the Collingwood versus Essendon clash on the big screen.
