Under-12 Benalla:
The Benalla Under-12 team played well in the first game of the season, winning 5:0 against Strikers.
They welcomed new players Erin Jenkins on the wing and Eli De Bona as goalie.
Eli had a quiet game due to the fantastic Benalla defence.
The teamwork was great, with Lily Stewart and Jacinta Woodward defending well and passing forward to captain Zac Fennell and Angus Woodward running down the centre.
Liam Carroll and Jack Chittick made some great tackles to take possession and push forward towards Benalla’s goal, sharing a goal each to take the team total to five.

Under-14 SYC/Benalla:
The combined SYC/Benalla Under-14 team played well against Mooroopna, winning 5:2.
Benalla’s Zac Fennell had fun and learnt a lot in his first full-field game, and Amber Armstrong was a solid player as always.
They play GVGS next Friday at 5.15 pm.
Under-17 Mooroopna/Benalla:
The combined Mooroopna/Benalla team had a hard game against SYC/Strikers with some fast running and good turnovers.
Benalla’s Sarah Farley provided good defence as a half back, and also some nice deflections to her new teammates in the circle as a forward.
B-Womens:
Benalla’s B-Women’s team welcomed many new players, as well as supported some juniors playing their first full-field games.
Everyone ran hard and played their hearts out in the fast-paced loss to Mooroopna, 0:5.
Players new to hockey did a stunning job, with Lucia De Bona and Sally Moore on the wings and Cassie Hurley as half back.
Jacinta Woodward passed well into goals in her first full-field game, and Amber Armstrong tackled well as an inner.
Captain Sarah Farley played confidently as centre-forward, using the well-positioned inner Eloise McDonald and Suzanne Wright on the wing.
Mansfield’s Nikki Theodossi returned to hockey after a long break, and her skill and determination bolstered the Benalla team, earning 2 umpire votes.
Goalie Prue White played a stellar game, stopping the Mooroopna onslaught with some great slides.
Full-backs Bree Harris and Bec Littler halted many forward runs and provided great hits out, supported by half back Lee Manning in penalty corners.
