Since sparking up an agreement years ago, president Bill Sykes was pleased to announce a recent $2000 donation has been put to good use by the trust.
The contribution now totals $5000 since 2017 and comes through the Australian Community Chest - a charity linked to gaming machines.
“About three or four years ago patrons suggested I approach the hotel to see if they could consider contributing some funding to the trust,” Dr Sykes said.
“They donated $1000 then, then another $2000 in 2019.
“At the end of 2020 I wrote to them with a bit of an application wondering if we could get another donation. I got an email back about six weeks later.
“We’re extremely grateful for the donation; it gives us the chance to help kids financially who compete at regional, state and national level.”
The latest funds have been dispersed as follows; $500 to Madison Gray for her footballing exploits, $500 to Molly Close and $350 each to Jye and Addison Pastuszka for their participation in the Little Athletics State Championships.
Addison Pastuszka managed a 19th placing in the girls under-11 discus and 20th in shot put.
Jye Pastuszka took out 15th in the boys under-15 discus, 12th in javelin and 16th in shot put.
Molly Close finished up 13th in girls under-14 discus, and 15th in shot put.
Madison Gray played a second game with Vic Country against Vic Metro at the Oakleigh ground on April 13, going down by 11 points.
Madison passed her thanks to Benalla Young Sportsperson Trust for their award, which she will use toward future game expenses.
